I have an Art show coming up!

It's been a while since I have participated in any art shows, ok, a long while!! Last month I started with "The Fly" for the Five by Five Show for the Tampa Art Council which was held at the Tampa Art Museum. 

Today I am pleased to announce I will be in the "First Friday Seminole Heights" gallery show, November 7th, at the Pyramid Inc.

along with Silk Artist Elizabeth Mitchell.

My silk and acrylic paintings along with some prints, posters and cards will be available to purchase.

Elizabeth will have her silk paintings available for purchase also and will be promoting her meetup groups called the "Inspiration Zone".

A portion of the profits will be donated to the Pyramid, Inc. The Pyramid Adult Day Training Program is a non-profit organization serving more than 170 individuals with developmental disabilities in the Tampa Bay Area.

Craft Project- The Secret Box

I made a secret box for my 4 year old grand daughter....and who would have known that it was "the best thing EVER", lol. Those were her words.

It is made with a cigar box. First I took a square piece of felt and glued it on the top of the box, covered that with a quilt square of her favorite material, (I did not want buy a whole yard and have leftover), then I trimmed it out with lace. I put the nob on the top (more on that later) and glued an already finished piece of wood from JoAnn's or Michael's craft store...I can't remember which and then I lined the bottom of the inside with felt. BOOM, best secret box ever!!!

Well, the 2 year old loves it, too. She keeps getting into it, lol. Then the family went to Disney World last week and the girls came home with lots of trinkets.  Now the 2 year old wants her own. So yesterday I made another box.

Remember I told you I would get back to the knob. This time I drilled a small whole in the top first, then I used a tap with a sharp point to make a small hole in the material. Then took the whole punch to the felt and material and glued the felt and material on the box. Now you can screw the nob on. Take it from me this is easier and way smarter then trying to do it without the whole. Duh!!!

I decorated the second box with pink duck tape so she can finish it herself with stickers.

My favorite month and time of year

The leaves are changing even down here in Florida! We had our first cool front and everyone was so excited. It got us out of the 90 degree range and gave us all hope that our weather will be glorious soon...and new beginnings. Life out doors! There are so many things to do this time of the year like, the downtown market, crafts and art fairs, pumpkin festivals, spook houses, and beautiful lights on the Hillsborough River, walks downtown.

And, I am so excited about this Friday. I have not been in any Art Shows in a long time!

I have a piese of Art at the "Five by Five". Small art for a big cause. All art will be for sale for $25.00.

It will be this Friday, October 17th, at 8 pm at the Tampa Museum of Art. I hope to see everyone there!!!!!!
